Meet RVshare

RVahare is an online marketplace that connects RV renters with RV owners.

I like to think of it as the AirBNB of the RV world.

Renters pick from the huge library of RV’s on the marketplace and rent their dream RV.

RV owners get to enjoy making money off their RV by renting it to a guest.

That’s how it works!

How did it all start?

I absolutely loved reading their story as they dove into the start of RVshare.

It all started with a honeymoon.

The cofounder and his wife bought an RV and traveled the country for their honeymoon.

What an adventure, right?

Explore the countryside with your new partner and experience the outdoors, beautiful scenery, and landscape that the country has to offer.

When they returned home, they realized that their RV would go unused for most of the year.

So, the cofounder Mark thought renting out his RV would be a great way to offset the costs of the RV while sharing the perks of RVing with other people.

And that’s when the idea was born.

He tried renting it out but experienced some difficulty, as their wasn’t an ideal platform in place yet to help him find a renter for his RV.

He discovered this untapped market and today, RVshare is is the largest peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace, home to over 60,000 RV owners across the U.S.

An average family’s RV will sit unused around 90% of the year.

Now, there’s a way to connect RV owners and RV renters so everyone wins!

RV renters get a taste of the RV life, traveling in an RV.

RV owners get paid to rent out their RV.

How it Works?

It’s a simple 4-step process:

  • List
  • Review
  • Meet
  • Enjoy

How to List with RVshare

First, list your RV on RVshare by going through the listing process, adding photos and a description.

This helps to manage exactly what potential renters see when they search.

Reviewing Your RV Reservation

Next, review your listing by reviewing reservation requests and working directly with renters to agree on terms.

You’ll like that you have full control over the process here.

Meeting The Renter and Getting Paid

Then, it’s time to meet the renter.

In the meet and greet, you can give them a quick demo, and send them on their way!

Lastly, get paid!

Reap the benefits of listing on the largest rental network in the world.

The renter will return your RV at the end of their trip and that’s it!

Common Questions

1. What happens if my RV can’t be found on RVshare when trying to create a listing?

RVshare uses year, manufacturer, make, and model of your RV to pre-populate as many fields as possible with manufacturer data.

If they are unable to match your RV information with manufacturer data, double check the list provided when you start typing in the manufacturer, make and model fields.

If your RV information is not included in their database they will not be able to pre-populate any additional RV vehicle information.

When prompted, please complete your RV details on the RV details page.

Instant Book allows renters to reserve your RV on the spot, taking the stress out of responding to booking requests, while providing instant confirmation to your renter.

4. Can I change a reservation once a renter has booked my RV?

Once your RV is booked, you can make updates and continue communication with the renter about their trip.

Go to the Change Reservation button found in the reservation details of your message with a renter.

Meeting the Renter for the First Time

You’ve got your first booking!

It can be an exciting feeling.

You are ready to meet the renter and wonder what the experience will be like.

Here’s an idea about what you might expect.

Meeting the renter is a great time to give a tour and demo of the RV.

You might find that some renters really have no knowledge about RV’s at all.

Take this opportunity to ease their fears and do a walkthrough.

RVshare actually offers a Departure form that you can use when meeting renters, to ensure that renters are comfortable using your RV.

On your RVshare account, the Departure form is under the Documents tab.

The Departure form goes over:

  • Damage walkthrough
  • Training
  • Setup lesson
  • Driving
  • Final condition check
  • Overview of conditional fees and traveler responsibilities

The damage walkthrough is just that.

It’s walking around the RV to determine prior damage.

This is good because it sets a baseline for the condition of the RV.

This walkthrough can help prevent future disputes, pointing out any preexisting damage.

Take your time with this and RVshare recommends you spend at least 15 minutes with the renter doing this walkthrough.

Next is training.

The purpose of training is to educate your renter on the operation of the RV.

Your goal is to ensure that the renter has all the knowledge to operate your RV so make sure to be thorough here.

The setup lesson teaches the renter how to set up and take down camp.

For example, if your RV has a trailer, you’ll show the renter how to attach and detach the trailer.

Next, taking your renter on a driving lesson is great to address any questions that may arise while driving.

This can be a brief drive around the local area.

The final condition check is a final review of the RV to ensure its roadworthiness.

Sharing conditional fees and traveler responsibilities reminds renters of their responsibilities along with any additional fees that result if they fail to meet their responsibilities.

When will I get paid?

Payouts for booked rentals are sent on the first business day after the start of the reservation.

For example, if a reservation begins on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, then the payout will not be released until Monday.

Holidays can impact the payout date.

It typically only takes 1-2 business days for the funds to reach your account after they have been released, but bank processing times can vary.

Your first payout can be delayed by up to 10 business days.
